West Papua music group Black Sisters are honoured to be part of Papua New Guinea’s 41st Independence Day celebrations.
Black Sisters comprise of Petronela, Rosalie and Lea Rumwaropen who are daughters of late August Rumwaropen, the original member of West Papua legendary band Black Brothers.
The trio will be performing alongside the Black Brothers at the Sir John Guise Stadium on Independence Day as part of the National Capital District’s organised celebrations for city residents.
The three sisters are well known in Australia and around the Pacific performing and have performed at three occasions in Moresby in past years.
Petronela said it’s an honour to be in PNG representing their father when they perform alongside the original members of Black Brothers.
“We’ve been to PNG three times on our own and performed here but this time it is different being here with our uncles.
“We are going to bring you some old hits by the Black Brothers and also some fresh songs as well from us.
“We are very happy to be here on Papuan soil. When we’re here it’s just like we are back home in West Papua,” Petronela said.
She invites the fans of Black Brothers and the young generations to come out and support the group.
Tickets are selling for K5 outer stands and K30 grandstand available at CHM Vision City and Tabari Place. Gates open at 4.30pm and the show starts at 6.30pm.
