Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian military (TNI) has seized seven firearms belonging to members of the Free Papua Movement (OPM) following a firefight in the Kali Senami area, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan.

TNI Habema Operations Commander Brig. Gen. Riyanto said in a statement received in Jakarta that the weapons were seized after troops encountered suspected OPM members at a site believed to be a temporary hideout in the Kali Senami area of Dekai district.

“Every firearm secured means a reduced potential threat to human safety. Soldiers must remain firm, professional, and measured in carrying out their duties, while prioritizing the protection of the public,” he said.

Riyanto explained that the operation began while personnel were conducting a patrol in the area. As the personnel approached the site, they came into contact with OPM members, triggering an exchange of gunfire.

Following the firefight, the personnel managed to approach the location and seize seven firearms.

“The joint team found seven firearms, consisting of two handguns and five long-barreled firearms, along with ammunition, sighting equipment, binoculars, and other gear. The types and conditions of the firearms are still being identified,” he said.

The weapons have been taken to military headquarters for further examination. Their types and conditions are still being identified, he added.

Riyanto said the operation was part of the military's efforts to restrict the movement of the armed separatist group and protect civilians in Papua.

The military said its operations were aimed at allowing residents to carry out their daily activities safely and supporting lasting peace in the region.

Jayapura, Jubi – The Legal Aid Institute (LBH) of Papua has reported that residents from several villages in Paniai Regency, Central Papua Province, have fled to Enarotali (the regency capital), Madi, Dauwagu, and the border area between Paniai and Intan Jaya Regency, following the arrival of military personnel in various districts.
According to LBH Papua, military personnel have reportedly entered villages in the Aradide/Agadide, Aweida, Ekadide, and Kebo districts since late October 2026.

The military has also reportedly occupied a pastoral house and a community health center (Puskesmas) in Tuguwai Village. This information was conveyed by LBH Papua in a written press release on Friday (November 6, 2026).

Consequently, in order to protect civilians, ensure accountability, and restore the rights of the displaced, LBH Papua has urged the President, the Minister of Defense, and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to publicly clarify the legal basis, official orders, specific units involved, and the duration of the troop deployment in Paniai. They have also called for an evaluation of the presence of troops within civilian settlements.

LBH Papua further requested that the TNI immediately vacate the Tuguwai Community Health Center and the pastoral house, and cease all searches and seizures conducted without a legal basis.

"The Paniai Regency Government and the Central Papua Provincial Government must register the displaced persons, meet their basic needs, and ensure their safe and voluntary return," LBH Papua stated.

The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM RI), the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), and the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) have been urged to conduct monitoring and investigations, and to provide protection for victims, witnesses, and church leaders against intimidation.

The Military Police and the Military Prosecution Office are urged to process, in an open and accountable manner, any service member proven to have committed acts of violence against civilians.

“The Paniai Regional House of Representatives (DPRK) and the Central Papua Provincial House of Representatives (DPRP) must immediately summon unit commanders and local government officials to an open public hearing. Furthermore, all parties must respect the rights of citizens to express their opinions peacefully, without the threat of criminalization.” (*)

3) TPNPB claims to have burned down company facilities in Tambrauw
NOVEMBER 6, 2026
IN PRESS RELEASE

Jayapura, Jubi – The West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) has claimed responsibility for burning down facilities belonging to a company engaged in road construction in Sikor Village, Faf District, Tambrauw Regency, Southwest Papua Province, on the afternoon of November 4, 2026.
Sebby Sambom, spokesperson for the TPNPB-OPM (Free Papua Organization), stated that the action was carried out by the TPNPB’s XXXIII Rumana Regional Defense Command (Kodap) in Tambrauw.

According to him, the attack was reported to the TPNPB Central Command headquarters by Brigadier General Vincent Frabuku, Deputy Commander Lieutenant Colonel Leonardo Suvi, Operations Commander Marten Faan, and Major Arnoldus Jansen Kocu.

“During the attack, [the TPNPB Tambrauw unit] succeeded in burning down the company’s base camp, as well as motorcycles, a white Hilux pickup truck, a larger truck, and an excavator,” Sebby Sambom said in a written press release on Friday (November 6, 2026).

He added that the TPNPB headquarters in Tambrauw also reported that, during the attack, they shot two Indonesian military personnel and two intelligence agents who were working as company employees.

Sambom stated that Lieutenant Colonel Leonardo Suvi also reported that, following the attack, the TPNPB’s XXXIII Rumana Regional Defense Command remained on high alert (Level 1 alert) in Imor Village, Vep District, through Thursday (November 5, 2026).

“Around 09:00 Papua Time (WP), a convoy of vehicles belonging to the Indonesian military and the Brimob (Mobile Brigade) passed through Imor Village; [the TPNPB XXXIII unit] opened fire, successfully shooting two Brimob members at the scene,” he said. According to reports, during an operation on November 4–5, 2026, the TPNPB’s *Kodap* (Regional Defense Command) XXXIII Rumana successfully shot six Indonesian security personnel and intelligence agents.

Sebby Sambom stated that Lieutenant Colonel Leonardo Suvi has issued a stern warning to *Banpol* (auxiliary police/informants) from five ethnic groups in Tambrauw Regency—the Wayo, Migak, Ireres, Mpur, Nopi, and Abun—urging them to exercise caution and cease their activities of tracking the whereabouts of TPNPB forces to report them to the Indonesian military.

He noted that the TPNPB consists of indigenous people born on Papuan soil; therefore, they are well-acquainted with the details and identities of these *Banpol* individuals, all of whom are documented in their records.

"If the presence of the TPNPB is reported by these *Banpol* to the Indonesian military, we will hunt you down—whether at home, in the forest, or on the road. We are prepared to enter your homes to apprehend you, and you will be dealt with according to the 'law of the jungle,'" he declared.

Furthermore, the TPNPB has issued a warning to non-Papuans—Indonesian migrants currently residing in Papua—to return to their respective home regions, particularly those within the operational zone of the TPNPB’s *Kodap* XXXIII Rumana in Tambrauw.

"If our ultimatum is ignored, we are prepared to shoot to kill, anytime and anywhere, upon encounter. We delivered this final warning when we released several Indonesian women who had become trapped during our 'clearing operation' against security personnel and intelligence agents in Imor Village yesterday."

Sambom stated that the TPNPB felt it necessary to issue this warning in accordance with international humanitarian law. As proof of their commitment to upholding international humanitarian law and human rights regarding civilians, the TPNPB has facilitated the return of several Indonesian migrant women from Imor Village.
