Sorong (ANTARA News) - Papuan politician Jimmy Demianus Ijie who is also a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives believes that President Joko Widodo has succeeded in building the provinces of Papua and West Papua, especially in infrastructure.

"President Joko Widodo built Papua and West Papua Provinces with his heart, so that the progress of infrastructure was extraordinary," Jimmy Demianus Ijie said in Sorong on Tuesday.

He said President Joko Widodo was very focused on infrastructure development in Papua in almost all areas of the provinces of Papua and West Papua. Roads, Bridges, and social changes were built for the poor.

In addition, he said, the education of the Smart Indonesia Card and the health of a healthy Indonesian card could answer the complaints of the Papuan people to the villages.

He said that the programs of President Joko Widodo were very much felt by the Papuan people from the city to the villages, so it was not surprising if the Papuan people admired him.

President Joko Widodo has launched a railroad program that can connect regions in the provinces of Papua and West Papua so that people can easily travel from one region to another by land.

Therefore, according to Jimmy, the leadership of Joko Widodo is always in the hearts and minds of the Papuan people, even the Papuan people want Jokowi to be re-elected as the president.

The PDI-P politician is very confident that the Papuan people will support Jokowi in the 2019 presidential election because of what Jokowi did for the people of Papua.

WESTERN Province is never late and never last, and we hope we will get there, says North Fly MP James Donald.

Mr Donald gave this assurance knowing well his people have seen little in terms of infrastructure development in the province.

He was updating his people on social media on the progress of a recently launched road link to Indonesia.

Mr Donald said it was great to see our friends from Indonesia cooperating with PNG.

“An instruction from their headquarters in Jakarta has deployed a team of surveyors into the border to assist in ensuring the road link connects at the right location,” Mr Donald said.

He said the pilot track would reach the border before December.

Mr Donald thanked MP BenedictusTembunop of Boven Digul district, Indonesia for responding positively and accepting the bilateral arrangement to connect Western Province by road with Papua Province of Indonesia.

He also extended his gratitude to the locals from both sides of the border for taking ownership of the project and cooperating with leaders, ward councilors and Ningerum president, Kawuk Konmop.

“Let our relationship that existed traditionally continue to strengthen and soon it will be further solidified,” Mr Donald said.

As of October 31, national flags of PNG and Indonesia were flying on each side of the border monument MM8.2 signifying common interest and cooperation as the road construction moves across with four kilometres done so far of total 65 kilometres.

This comes two weeks after the launch last month. The launching was held in Ningerum, Western Province.

Mr Donald told the people at the launch that the road project would encourage economic activity and trade across the border regions and Western.

“This is a key infrastructure to relieve them of high costs of doing business, including travel and freight expenses from Port Moresby.
