Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - The Papua provincial government plans to grant 70 buses formerly used for the 20th National Sports Week (PON) 2021 to the public in the province.

The buses will be donated to the public for various activities of religious foundations, schools, and other institutions in accordance with the Papua governor's directives, acting chief of the Papua Provincial Transportation Office David Wondanak Telenggen stated in Jayapura on Friday.

It is for the governor to decide the granting of the buses, he noted.

"The granting of the buses cannot be carried out right now because it is still under the process," he remarked.

Telenggen said the buses were moved to Lukas Enembe Stadium since early December 2021 following the termination of the contract for parking the buses at the PTC Entrop field.

"The buses remain under our supervision, so we are responsible for maintaining them," he noted.

The maintenance cost of the buses has, so far, been taken from the existing budget.
