Adi Holmes for the Free Papua Movement Australia has organised a Free West Papua Protest at Parliament House in Canberra. Supporters of a Free West Papua in Australia will be protesting the current military crackdown being carried out in West Papua's highlands by the Indonesian military and state.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo is committing war crimes in West Papua and Australia is complicit.
We will not be silent about this issue. Australia has the power in our region to stop the escalating violence in West Papua and initiate positive steps towards peace. Violence through military crackdowns will not solve the West Papuan's desire for independence.
"
We have decided to protest at Parliament House because it is the people's house. This is where our elected members make decisions for us. This is also where we can bring our grievances to about issues that concern us, and what is happening in West Papua is indeed concerning and requires urgent action. We cannot just sit by and watch Indonesia wipe out people who in this case have genuine aspirations to live freely in their own land.
