Papua police send team following shooting

Papua Police have sent a team to Mulia, Puncak Jaya regency, to investigate Thursday afternoon’s shooting which left a villager dead and injured a soldier.
Papua Police chief Insp. Gen. Tito Karnavian said on Friday that the attack was launched by the armed gang behind several such attacks in the region.
The gunman shot Pvt. Hasan of the Yonif 753/AVT unit based in Nabire, who was off duty and unarmed, in the back before fatally shooting a local resident, Abbas Haddis, in the chest at a food stall at Lama Market in Mulia.
Abbas died after being admitted to the Mulia Regional Hospital, while Pvt. Hasan is currently receiving intensive treatment at the Marthen Indey Hospital in Jayapura.
